As the first African American citizen to own and operate a vehicle within the city limits of Cleveland, Ohio, Garrett Morgan dreamed of a safer way to navigate the city's intersections. Witnessing accident after accident at multiple intersections in the early 1920s, he envisioned a method that would give drivers a warning period, allowing them more time to make safer stops. His simple yet revolutionary idea was to add a yellow light between the existing green and red lights. And just like that, the three-signal light system was born! Thanks to his imagination, many accidents have been prevented, and countless lives saved. Because of Garrett Morgan, we now have the opportunity to slow down and prepare to stop. Gotta love those people who exercise their brains for the sake of others.

So why not imagine a world where your ideas lead the way into fulfilling someone else’s need? By using your imagination, you not only expand your ability to create, but you also open the door to the possibility of making the world a better place. It’s okay to dream, but when you’re awake, use your imagination instead.
