Good Morning People!!!
Hunter was serving a 15-year federal prison sentence for distributing methamphetamine. He was being held at the Sandstone Federal Prison in Minnesota. On this particular day, he was set to receive his very first visit. He was excited because he hadn’t seen his wife and kids in months. His sister and parents were also coming along to visit. Little did he know, they would never make it. Tragically, the RV the family was traveling in was forced off the road by a semi-truck driver who had fallen asleep at the wheel. There were no survivors. Hunter took the news hard. He believed this would not have happened if he hadn’t gone to jail. He blamed himself, and the weight of the tragedy plunged him into a deep depression. His mental state deteriorated so severely that he had to be placed in protective custody to prevent him from harming himself. He would never be able to forgive himself for this.
Happy Throwback Thursday, my Weekday Warriors! It’s that time again! Your KC metro area weather starts off in the low 20s and warms up to only 38 degrees today. This week’s Throwback topic is The Importance of Self-Forgiveness.
Have you ever been wronged by someone and expected an apology? What about the other way around? Now ask yourself this question: When you wrong yourself, how often do you actually forgive you? A lot of times, we seek things from others that we aren’t even willing to give ourselves. We preach forgiveness without practicing it for ourselves. So listen up: as you accept apologies from others, make sure you’re also forgiving yourself. Give yourself the closure you need to move forward, so you can continue learning and growing in this life. If you don’t forgive yourself for the mistakes of the past, how can you make room for the lessons from the mistakes you’ll inevitably make in the future? Self-forgiveness isn’t just about healing; it’s about preparing yourself for growth.
